Tom Yocky Dulcimers
Back Woods Available
In general, choosing a "hardwood" (something other than redwood or cedar) for the back will help to create a more even sound for the instrument. But remember that each piece of wood is different and there are no absolutes in the sound qualities of a wood type. Do not worry too much about trying to shape the sound by wood selection, because there is a lot more to the instrument's sound than the woods...choose what you like the look of first, and leave it to me to put them together in a way that sounds fantastic.
